Dermatitis,
psoriasis, and eczema are just a few of the skin conditions that can be treated with Topicort
® (
desoximetasone). This prescription medicine works to treat these skin problems by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system. It is available as a cream, gel, or ointment.
The different products vary in their potency. The following Topicort products are "Class II" (high potency) steroids:
- Topicort 0.25% cream
- Topicort 0.25% ointment
- Topicort 0.05% gel.
Topicort LP 0.05% cream is a "Class IV" (medium potency) steroid.
Your specific dosage will depend mainly on the type and severity of the skin condition being treated. The ointment is greasy, while the gel and cream are easier and less mess to apply. Also, the gel may cause more skin dryness and irritation than the ointment or the cream.
