clobetasol propionate) is a prescription skin medication. It belongs to a group of drugs known as topical steroids. It comes in the form of a gel, topical solution, cream, emollient cream, and ointment. The topical solution is used on the scalp, and the other products are for use on the body.
Temovate is approved to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema,
psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions.
Brand-name Temovate products are made by PharmaDerm.
Temovate is part of a group of drugs known as glucocorticoids, which are a type of corticosteroid (or "steroid" for short). Although glucocorticoids have numerous effects in the body, they are used mostly for their anti-inflammatory or immune-suppressing properties. Temovate works for most conditions by decreasing inflammation or suppressing an overactive immune system.
