Tazorac for Acne

Tazorac® (tazarotene) is a prescription drug licensed to treat acne and psoriasis. It comes in the form of a gel and a cream, and each product comes in two different strengths. Generally, either form is applied once daily (in the evening) to the affected areas of skin.

When treating acne with Tazorac, keep in mind that the skin may look worse temporarily -- this is normal, and the skin's appearance should start to improve within four weeks. Your healthcare provider might recommend that you use it alone or with another acne medication. Since Tazorac is applied in the evening (typically at bedtime), your healthcare provider may recommend a different type of acne treatment for use in the morning.
