Vectical Medication Information

People with mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis may benefit from Vectical® (calcitriol ointment). This topical skin ointment is applied to the affected areas of the skin twice daily. It is available by prescription and is approved for use in adults only.
 
Although most people tolerate this medicine well, side effects can occur and may include itching and skin discomfort. Also, this ointment contains an active form of vitamin D, which can increase blood calcium levels in some people.
 
Before using Vectical, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any allergies you may have, including to drugs, foods, dyes, or preservatives. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
