Locoid Medication Information

Locoid® (hydrocortisone butyrate) is a medicine licensed for the treatment of dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and a variety of other skin problems. This medication comes as a cream, lotion, ointment, and liquid solution, and is applied to the affected areas of the skin two or three times a day. It is a type of steroid and works by suppressing an overactive immune system and reducing inflammation.

Although most people tolerate the medicine well, side effects can occur and may include dryness, burning, or other skin irritations. Only cover the medicine with a bandage with your healthcare provider's approval, as doing this can increase your risk for side effects.

Before using Locoid, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other medications you are taking (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any allergies you may have. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
