An overdose of this medication can be quite dangerous, although an antidote is available to counteract some of the effects (see Methotrexate Overdose).
 

How Should It Be Stored?

Methotrexate should be stored at room temperature and kept protected from light and moisture. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children.
 

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you take methotrexate daily and do not take your dosage as scheduled, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, simply skip the one you missed and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.
 
If you take this medication less often, such as once weekly, and you miss a dose, contact your healthcare provider for further instructions.

Who Makes Methotrexate?

Currently, brand-name Rheumatrex is made by EXCELLA GmbH for DAVA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Brand-name Trexall is made by Teva Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Generic versions are made by various manufacturers.

Methotrexate comes in 2.5-mg tablets. The medication also comes in the form of an injection. Brand-name methotrexate comes in a variety of different special packages to help people remember when exactly to take it (for those taking the medication weekly).
