If you have certain skin conditions, you may benefit from Vanos. This medicated skin cream is approved for treating conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, and poison ivy, just to name a few. This medicine is a type of steroid and works by reducing inflammation and itching, as well as suppressing an overactive immune system. There are currently no "off-label," or unapproved, uses for Vanos.
What Is Vanos Used For?Vanos® (fluocinonide cream) is a prescription skin medication approved to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of conditions. Some of these conditions include but are not limited to:
Vanos is approved to treat any skin condition that is responsive to corticosteroids. This medicine is recommended for short-term use only (for two weeks or less), and people must be careful to avoid using more than 60 grams (half of a 120-gram tube) per week. Using too much or using it for extended periods may cause serious side effects (see Vanos Side Effects).
