Available by prescription only, Vanos® (fluocinonide cream) is a medicine licensed to treat itching and inflammation caused by various skin conditions, including psoriasis. Vanos comes as a cream that is applied in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin once or twice daily. It is not recommended to use this medicine for longer than two weeks, as it may lead to potentially serious side effects.
Vanos is a type of corticosteroid (or "steroid" for short) and works by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system. This drug is approved for use in adults and children as young as 12 years old.
