Psoriasis Home > Cyclosporine Hair Growth

Although most people do not experience any problems with cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®), certain reactions are associated with the use of this drug. For example, a common side effect of cyclosporine is hair growth. Clinical studies have shown that up to 45 percent of people may have excessive dark, coarse facial or body hair growth while taking cyclosporine.
Cyclosporine side effects such as this are usually mild and easy to treat. However, to help minimize your risk of problems, make sure your healthcare provider has a complete list of all medications you are taking, as well as a complete medical history. By providing your healthcare provider with this information, he or she can be sure this is the right medication for you.
