Your healthcare provider may recommend using Cordran Tape if you have psoriasis, seborrhea, poison ivy, or other skin conditions that cause inflammation and itching. This drug works by suppressing an overactive immune system and reducing inflammation. Although it is a relatively mild steroid, it should still be used with caution and for no longer than necessary.
What Is Cordran Tape Used For?Cordran® Tape (flurandrenolide tape) is a prescription skin medication approved to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of conditions. It is a topical steroid that comes in the form of a tape. For people who do not prefer the tape, Cordran Lotion and Cordran SP Cream are also available. Cordran Tape provides a steroid with a built-in barrier to increase the drug's potency, hold in moisture, and protect the skin.
Some of the conditions that Cordran Tape is useful for treating include but are not limited to:
Specifically, Cordran Tape is approved to treat any skin condition that is responsive to corticosteroids. This is a very broad indication. Given the nature of the tape, it is most suitable for treating small, dry, scaly areas of the skin.
Although using a steroid with a barrier improves effectiveness, the absorption (and thus the risk of serious side effects) also increases. As with other steroids, long-term, continuous use should be avoided if possible, due to the risk of serious Cordran Tape side effects.
