Halobetasol propionate (
Ultravate®) is a prescription skin medication. It belongs to a group of drugs known as topical steroids and is used to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema,
psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions. It is approved for use only in people age 12 and older.
Just like any medicine, halobetasol may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of halobetasol include but are not limited to:
- Stinging
- Burning
- Itching.
