Halobetasol
As a type of topical steroid, halobetasol is prescribed to treat several skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. It is available in the form of a cream and an ointment, and works by decreasing inflammation and suppressing the immune system. Side effects are possible, and typically include stinging, itching, or burning of the skin.
Halobetasol propionate (Ultravate®) is a prescription skin medication. It belongs to a group of drugs known as topical steroids and is used to treat inflammation and itching due to a wide variety of skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, and allergic reactions. It is approved for use only in people age 12 and older.
