Side Effects of Etanercept

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with etanercept. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate etanercept well. When side effects do occur, in many cases they are minor and either require no treatment or can be easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects with etanercept are less common.

The most common side effects of etanercept include:

  • Reactions at the injection site (redness, rash, swelling, itching, or bruising)
  • Infections
  • Headaches
  • Irritated or runny nose.

Serious infections are rare, but can be a potentially life-threatening side effect of etanercept.
