Generic Elocon Ointment
There are generic versions of Elocon® (mometasone furoate) ointment available. This generic version is sold under the name Mometasone furoate 0.1% cream and is made by various manufacturers.
This prescription medication is used to treat various skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. The ointment is applied in a thin layer on the affected areas of the skin once daily.
There are also generic versions of Elocon cream and Elocon lotion. However, it is important to note that the generic versions of the cream, lotion, and ointment are not interchangeable.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has determined that the generic versions of Elocon ointment are considered as good as the brand-name drug. However, generic medications may have different inactive ingredients than a brand-name medicine, which may cause problems for some people.
