Elocon Dosage

When treating skin conditions with Elocon, your dosage will mainly depend on the type and severity of your skin problem. The standard starting dose is usually a thin layer of the medicine applied to the affected areas once daily. Your healthcare provider may recommend covering the area with a dressing to improve the absorption and effectiveness of the drug.

An Introduction to Dosing With Elocon

The dose of Elocon® (mometasone furoate) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending mostly on the type and severity of the skin condition you are treating. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Elocon Dosage for Skin Conditions

For treating inflammation or itching due to a wide variety of skin conditions (such as psoriasis, eczema, or atopic dermatitis), the standard starting dose for Elocon is a thin layer applied to the affected area(s) of the skin once a day. Gently rub the medicine into the skin, being careful not to damage the irritated skin. Wash your hands after applying the medicine, unless you are treating your hands.

Your healthcare provider may recommend covering the medicine with a dressing. Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist for a recommendation for which type of dressing to use. Using a dressing might help improve the effectiveness of the drug, but it also increases the risk for Elocon side effects.

If no improvement is seen within two weeks, talk with your healthcare provider about a different treatment approach.
