When certain drugs, such as immunosuppressants, are taken with Amevive, interactions can occur. Depending on the product, an interaction can strengthen or suppress the immune system too much, or lead to other problems. Some of the other products that can cause interactions include echinacea, polio vaccine, and rotavirus vaccine.

Echinacea may decrease the effectiveness of Amevive by stimulating the immune system. Do not take take these products together without your healthcare provider's approval.
Live vaccines are immunizations that contain live viruses or bacteria. If you receive a live vaccine while taking Amevive, you might become infected with the virus or bacteria from the vaccine. Also, Amevive can make live vaccines less effective. You should probably not receive live vaccinations while using this medication.
