People with certain inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis, may benefit from Aclovate® (alclometasone dipropionate). Available as a cream or an ointment, Aclovate is a type of steroid and works to relieve itching and inflammation by reducing inflammation and suppressing an overactive immune system.
Your dose of Aclovate ointment or cream will depend on the severity of the skin condition being treated. In general, a thin layer of the cream is applied to the affected areas of the skin two to three times daily. Possible side effects may include skin irritation, burning, and dryness.
Prior to using this skin medicine, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medications you are taking. Also, make sure he or she knows if you have any allergies or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
